Well, being impaled on a long metal spike is somewhat uncomfortable, i think. Not keeping his legs spread out would probably make it hurt even more. Though now that i think about it, i'm not sure if it's worse than having the spike be deeper inside. Dammit. At least it shouldn't be too hard to fix :/

...Of course, the "basic" two-rope layout might not offer enough freedom of movement. I think the optimal layout would be with a pulley and some weights (picture) on the lightest person's end of the rope, so they can freely adjust their relative heights.
