What are your thoughts on setting up a small wiki? Do you see any good uses for this? Collaborative story writing, translation projects, artist directories, gallery links?
It depends if you think the user base can make use of it. Is there call and need for a space outside of /lit/ for collaborative writing, translation projects and a list of external links?
No
I think it may be useful to people curious about the genera. It would also be beneficial to people who are looking for guro in other places besides here. I remember the endless amounts of threads asking about where to find other guro sites and graphic novels. A small wiki may be helpful in preventing discussion board clutter related to these topics.

Useless crap. An encyclopedia would be good, but not in Web 2.0 approach.
>>6 I think my head just exploded.
I think it might be a good idea for us to make the wikipedia article better because it looks somewhat lacking to me. Any thoughts?
>>4 Do people not know about google then ?
>>9 Actually, in my experience, Google has a tendency to be to broad when searching for something specific. For example, a search for "snuff" will give you results for tobacco products. A search for "asphyxiation" will introduce you to a band with that name. Yes, there are ways for a person to do a more concise search if they are patient and intelligent, but that is a difficult combination to find. I feel that a guro wiki would be able to resolve a great deal of the confusion and discrimination that surrounds this unique genera. It would also be useful for those just interested in a quick fap without the fuss of hours of browsing.
>>10 Couldn't have said it better myself!
>>10 For example, a search for "snuff" will give you results for tobacco products. You expect Google to return something that would get them (and yourself - hopefully) into trouble ?
>>12 Google does remove a few results, but when they do the page explicitly says so. But if a word has multiple definitions, and one of them consistently gets ranked higher in the results, it's because pages about that are just more popular. They're not going to fudge their algorithm just to fuck with you.
I googled snuff films but stupid google didn't show any snuff films. I also tried cp, that worked better but it was a hustle. I say we start our own web browser right now guise.
Don't see why people are so against it. I'd make it so the wiki also had some small sections on some of the more well known guro authors along with torrents and the like of their work, like Shintaro kago, that way we wouldn't get so many "hurr durr" where can I get more of [insert well known artist here]?" in /req/.
>>15 But that would also attract more people to Gurochan. Thats not really what we need.
>>16 Perhaps I am just ignorant in the ways of the internet, but why would we want to discourage people? The more the merrier, right? It isn't as though Gurochan will ever have a flood of fans after all. Shouldn't we encourage the attraction of those few who have a honest interest?
>>17 Because Gurochan is our special, secret clubhouse and we should never let anyone in now that we've found our way here. And we can never benefit from new admittance because they're all, obviously, just going to trash the place. Cut that crap out, seriously.
>>17 Yeah, this place is only for a very elite, special and above all wierd group of people if we let the moderately wierd people in all hell would breack loose and than poof your fapping in some /g/less world!
>>14 We could call it Guroogle
>>20 How is that pronounced? And it could be /w/ for wiki
>>21 *gurgle* - the O's are silent.
Or maybe gur-O-gul, with a long "o" sound
