Concerning chapter twenty-nine(and I'm trying not to spoil anything), what exactly is it that bursts from the pupae on page 23? It looks like a large insect head, but I'm not sure. Image related.
This whole chapter is nightmare fuel unleaded as far as I am concerned. When I was younger, I had a nightmare about my little brother incredibly similar to this chapter. My brother was a big caterpillar(no, I don't know why), and a parasitic wasp laid its eggs on him. Though they would kill him as the wasp larvae matured, my father wouldn't remove the eggs. We had to 'let nature take its course' he said, or something equally vague and frightening like that. It was one of the worst nightmares I ever had, and I've always hated any sort of parasite since. This Franken Fran chapter just brought it back full force from my memory.
I blame the nature documentaries on PBS that I watched as a kid. They were always full of animals struggling, dying, and being eaten. I probably watched one on insects before sleeping that night.
