I don't see how a VN that focuses on negative themes of relationships is innately pretentious at all. The idea of a story about extremely dysfunctional, abusive relationships seems far more agreeable to me than one about unrealistic, bullshit harems where sex is held up as the pinnacle of achievement and MC has no redeeming qualities what-so-ever.

Sorely underfunded adoption home or a Drainage City-esque setting both seem like a good start to me. I've got plenty of ideas of stories but I'm not prepared to write, draw or code and I refuse to be that faggot who wants to be involved in a project without doing any meaningful work towards it.

I've played the game a little and I've hung around their forum so what I'm going to say might make sense,or not:

The way these people sit around and pontificate and act like they're all some wizened sages and this game is the most life uplifting thing in the world is a combination of funny,sad,and a bit scary-face it most of these folks are under thirty and I suspect most of them are under twenty,and for chrissakes it's a damn GAME not the fucking meaning of life........

I honestly got turned off by all of it and deleted the game,I want no part of that cult like atmosphere,thank you.

And beyond that the game itself,while very well done,is chock full of the makers prejudices and they get very protective of it,TOO protective in fact since it's not their characters but they go all "MY precious!!" if you mention making alterations.

In all a real amazingly well done fan game with one fucking bizarre lot of developers and followers,take in small doses or be ready to have your head explode.
