Episodic memories (just "memories", to most people) get more heavily imprinted over time, if they don't end up erased instead, so the unfortunate person's notion of history would gradually regress, alzheimer-style.
Skills, empathy, etc. have less of a direct connection between age and strength. There, they'll just lose whatever they use least first..
Random utterings and such are generally reserved for quick, catastrophic damage. The brain is pretty good about shutting off damaged segments (and reusing the neurons for something else or to rebuild it). You might see that in someone with a stroke, though.
